Beautiful Spot, Moderate Accessibility
I enjoyed a trip to the Badlands this fall. There are trails directly off the main road that have ramps, but the ramps seem like a composite material- it was slippery and would not be easy to safely navigate with an unsteady gait or while using a cane or wheelchair. The idea is great, the execution is lacking. With somewhat thoughtful planning, you could definitely access some gorgeous views right off the main road without running into many physical barriers. They mention accessible bathrooms on the website, but I did not use them (buildings closed for Covid) and am unsure if they had any adult size changing tables, however none were noted on the website. Overall it is a great day trip that offers ramps, wildlife encounters and view access without getting too far from the parking lots.
